SEO services

Your SEO consultant working directly with you.

If you need a freelance SEO consultant to find out what's holding your site back, I'll work through the evidence with you and carry out the work we agree. I'm Kristian, the independent consultant behind Dog on the Table. I've spent 17 years in search, working in agencies, in-house and independently. There's more about me if you'd like the background.

Working with me might mean investigating a crawl problem or sudden traffic drop, planning a move to a new platform or deciding which pages need attention first. You'll work directly with me throughout, and I can work alongside your team or agency. I bring in trusted partners for tasks such as development where that helps. If something falls outside my experience or available time, I'll say so.

Make the right pages easier to find

SEO work starts with understanding what search engines can access and what your customers need to know. A sound site structure helps important pages get found. Clear content helps people decide what to do next. I'll look at your site and recommend work that fits the problems the evidence shows.

I work with businesses across the UK and internationally, mostly remotely. Through agencies, I've worked on brands including John Lewis, The Body Shop, Biscuiteers and Ann Summers, covering technical audits, migration planning and content strategy across ecommerce sites. Whilst in my solo career I've supported brands like Ocean Bottle, Entain and Notion Capital. I plan the work, I carry it out, I measure the impact and I help you understand the results.

Where I can help

Technical SEO audits and investigations

If search engines struggle to reach or understand your pages, or traffic suddenly drops, I investigate why. As a technical SEO consultant, I use a variety of specialist tools including Sitebulb, Google Search Console, GA4, DataForSEO and PageSpeed Insights, alongside my own custom-built tooling. I check crawlability and indexing, site structure and internal links, page speed and Core Web Vitals, structured data, XML sitemaps, robots.txt and international setup where relevant. Crawl investigations and server logs, which record requests to the server, help show which pages search engines visit. You'll get an HTML findings report, and I usually talk you through the findings on a call.

Site migrations and replatforming

A move to a new platform, domain or URL structure can change which pages search engines find. I also help with moves to HTTPS and site mergers. Website migration SEO starts with a benchmark before launch and redirect mapping, which sends old URLs to the right new pages. I check the site at launch and monitor it afterwards. What that monitoring covers depends on our agreement, but I recommend three months after launch. I work with the people responsible for the wider project so SEO decisions fit the move.

Ecommerce and Shopify SEO

If products and categories compete for attention or are hard to find, I'll look at how your shop is organised. As an ecommerce SEO consultant, I work on site structure and internal links, which connect pages within your site, so important pages are easier to find. I can also plan content around the questions customers have before they buy. My Shopify SEO work for Ocean Bottle covered performance, structure and content planning.

iGaming and betting SEO

If you're trying to reach people searching for betting terms, the work may need both commercial pages and useful supporting content. For an anonymised UK betting brand, I worked on commercial search terms and a programme of guides and event content. The blog's recorded keyword reach grew from 178 to 3,123 terms in about seven months. My experience in iGaming and wagering also includes Entain, Sporting Index, Oddschecker and Tabcorp.

Results from my work

These results were recorded during each project. They describe what happened then, not current rankings or a forecast for your site.

How we work together

01

Tell me what you're seeing.

Show me the site and explain the problem or decision you face. I'll ask what you've already checked and who needs to be involved.

02

I check the evidence.

I'll investigate the parts of the site that matter to the question. Then I'll explain what I found and where the uncertainty remains.

03

We agree the work.

I'll recommend a scope and fee, and we'll agree both in writing before work starts.

04

I carry it through.

I'll do the agreed work, explain the findings or decisions to the people involved and set out what I think should happen next.

Ways to work together

You can read more about the arrangements on the pricing page.

Option Typical scope
Technical SEO audit A technical SEO audit starts from £950, depending on scope, and we agree the scope and start date in advance. I typically deliver the HTML findings report within 3 to 5 working days from that date, when the checks begin. I usually present the findings on a call, or in person case by case, mainly depending on location.
Migration or replatform support The scope depends on the site's size, the platforms involved, how many URLs and templates change, and what needs checking before and after launch. The simplest, smallest jobs generally start from two days of consultancy. Larger or more complex migrations need more time, which I'll agree with you when we set the scope.
Ongoing support or fractional Head of SEO Monthly retainers for scaleups and ecommerce start at £1,350 for a day and a half of support each month, with more time agreed when needed. There's an initial three-month term, then a monthly arrangement with 30 days' notice.
Strategic advisory I offer half-day or full-day sessions. We can meet in Brighton or London, or work remotely.

How SEO supports AI visibility

SEO is the foundation I build AI visibility work on. Search engines and AI systems both benefit from accessible pages, a clear site structure and accurate information, even though they use that information differently. If you want to explore how your brand appears in AI answers, see my AI visibility work. For a deeper assessment of your current position, there's also a paid AI visibility audit.

Questions about SEO support

How much does an SEO consultant cost?

A technical SEO audit starts from £950, depending on scope. The simplest migration jobs generally start from two days of consultancy, with the scope depending on the site and the changes involved. Ongoing support starts at £1,350 a month. I'll agree the fee and scope with you in writing before work starts, and the first call to discuss your project is free.

Can you help with a website migration?

Yes. I can help with domain changes, platform moves, URL structure changes, moves to HTTPS and site mergers. I'll benchmark the site before launch, map redirects, check the launch and monitor what happens afterwards. Monitoring depends on what we agree, but I recommend three months after launch. I'll work with your developers and the other people responsible for the move. The simplest jobs generally start from two days of consultancy, with more time agreed for larger or more complex migrations.

Can you guarantee rankings?

No. Search rankings depend on factors neither of us controls, and I won't promise a position or a date for results. I can investigate your site, explain what the evidence supports and do the work we agree. The case study figures on this page are results recorded during those projects, not a forecast for yours.

How long until I see results?

It depends on the changes we make, the condition of your site and the competition for the searches that matter to you. There's no fixed timetable I can promise. Before work starts, we'll agree what to measure and how to review progress, so you can see what's changed and decide what needs attention next.

Is AI replacing SEO?

I see SEO as the foundation that AI visibility is built on. Search engines and AI answers both depend on accessible pages, clear site structure and accurate information. They use that information differently, but fixing a site that search engines struggle to access is still useful work. My AI SEO work looks at the additional questions that come with appearing in AI answers.

Do you offer link building or copywriting?

I don't offer link building as a service. Good link acquisition usually needs PR-led work and a budget to match. Copywriting can be part of a content project when it helps carry out the agreed plan, but I don't offer it as a separate service. If either need is central to your project, I'll tell you where my work fits.

Can you work with our developers or agency?

Yes. I can work alongside an in-house team, your developers or an existing agency. For technical changes and migrations, that often means explaining what needs to happen, discussing constraints with the people making the changes and checking the result. I can bring in trusted partners where that helps, and an NDA is available if you need one. If part of the work falls outside my experience or available time, I'll tell you so you can plan around it.

Where are you based?

I'm based in Brighton and work with clients across the UK and internationally, mostly remotely. I usually present audit findings on a call. An in-person meeting is possible case by case, mainly depending on location. Strategic advisory sessions can take place here, in London or remotely, and we'll agree how to involve the people who need to act on the findings.

Do I need an audit or ongoing SEO support?

An audit makes sense when you need to understand a specific problem or get a clear view of the site's technical condition. Ongoing support suits a business with decisions and work to manage across several months. Tell me what you're trying to resolve, and I'll recommend a useful starting point based on what you've shared.

Let's have a look.

Tell me about your site and the problem you're trying to solve. The first call is free, and I usually reply within one working day.
